Desktop file folder organiser using Stampin’ up! supplies

small file folder organiser 1    mini file folder organiser 2

Happy Friday everyone and happy 1st day May!! I have a fun, bright and cheerful project for you today.  A file folder organiser that sits on your desk its soooo lovely i love it!! I love anything to do with stationary, organising and crafting and when they are all put together im in heaven!!

Im slowly working through my house to organise cupboards and drawers and i feel great for it.  Its amazing how much better you feel after de cluttering and organising (well i do hehe).

Again im using the retiring colours and mixed in some old olive to.  I have added five file folders to my box.  With those in there the project measures 5 1/8″ x 4″ x 1″ but obviously make yours as big or small as you want in the instructions i tell you the measurements to make each file folder so you can make a bunch of them and put them in a bigger box.  Im not sure what i will use mine for yet, perhaps receipts that need sorting and my to do lists etc.  Luckily i have still left the tabs blank at the moment.  Maybe you can theme it around birthdays or holidays that sort of thing.

  • So you can SHOP HERE with me for your supplies, remember that the items on the retiring list ( on my website, also on my blog) are only while stocks last or 2nd of June either way you need to get them while you can.

Supplies

Cardstock

  • in colour 2013-2015 cardstock pack
  • Whisper White

Stamp set

  • What’s Up?
  • Painted Petals

Ink

  • In colour ink pads 2013-2015

Embellishments

  • Wooden elements

Punches

  • Word Window
  • Large Oval
  • Scallop Oval
  • Banner
  • What’s Up?
  • Envelope Punch Board

Instructions

For the box  your cardstock needs to measure 8″ x 7 1/8″ (20.3cm x 18cm)

With the long side at the top score at 4″ and 5″ (10.1cm and 12.7cm)

Then turn your cardstock and score at 1″ and 6 1/8″ (2.5cm and 15.5cm)

With the cardstock in horizontal position the two middle squares trim either side to make the tabs and then adhere them and the sides up together to make the box.  The DSP that goes around the box doesn’t quite meet at the back but this isn’t an issue for me as i no one will see that bit.  The DSP should measure 2 1/4″ x 12″ (5.7cm x 30.4cm). Once your box is together i just trimmed a diagonal bit off each side to make it look abit better.

For the file folders

Cardstock measures 8 1/4″ x 5″ (20.9cm x 12.7cm) score this on the long side at 4 1/8″ then trim 1/2″ (1.2cm) off one end only then you need your envelope punch board. Punch but dont score at 0 so the very left of the card then slide along and punch at 3″ dont score. Then turn it round and do the same to the other side so the tabs are on each side of the file folder (hope that makes sense).

You can now just decorate as you want to.  Have a great day

Let me know if you have any questions or comments

  1. Absolutely love your file folder project. Could you possibly provide the measurements for a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card and adjusting the desktop organizer to fit them? Also is it possible to me a desktop file folder organizer that would hold a 8 1/2 x 11 file folder? You are so creative and talented. Love to see each post, you inspire me to try lots of different things!
